Great Bay Technology and Western Union cooperate to start the production of XFC commercial vehicles
2023-12-16
December 15, 2023, the "Intelligent Connected Ecosystem, extreme fast charging (XFC)the Future – Strategic Joint Release of XFC Commercial Vehicles and the Xi'an Initiative Launch Ceremony" was grandly held at the Xi'an High-tech International Conference Center in Shaanxi Province. Co-hosted by Shaanxi Western Intelligent Connected New Energy Industry Group Co., Ltd (referred to as Western Intelligent Connected) and Guangzhou Greater Bay Technology Technology Research Co., Ltd (referred to as Greater Bay Technology Technology Research), the event witnessed representatives from various sectors, including industry, academia, research, government, and economy. Also present were numerous media outlets from national, provincial, and municipal levels as well as industry media, all gathering to witness the new practice of extreme-speed charging technology in the field of commercial vehicles. The convening of this conference marks the official leap of China's new energy commercial vehicles into the new era of XFC vehicles.
This conference boasted a gathering of industry elites and notable figures who focused on leading zero-carbon land transport and sustainable development through technological innovation, policy trends, platform development, and model innovation. Dong Yang, Chairman of the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, Vice Chairman of the China Electric Vehicle Association, Honorary Chairman of the Electric Vehicle Industry XFC Ecological Alliance, Wang Zhao, Executive Director and General Manager of Decreation Future Auto Technology Co., Ltd., Huang Xiangdong, Chairman of Guangzhou Greater Bay Technology Technology Research Co., Ltd., and others, analysed the current state and future development direction of the new energy commercial vehicle field. They came together to champion the energy revolution and create a sustainable future.
Against the backdrop of overall sluggish commercial vehicle sales, new energy commercial vehicles are outperforming the market, especially new energy heavy trucks, which are seeing countercyclical growth. As an increasing number of companies expand their product lines related to XFC and as breakthroughs in XFC technology and its applications materialize, China's new energy commercial vehicles have shifted from a “battery-swap focused, charging-assisted” model to a “concurrent development of charging and swapping” model. This transition meets the user experience needs of new energy commercial vehicle users.
Western Intelligent Connected's newly released product, equipped with an XFC commercial vehicle power battery from Greater Bay Technology Technology Research, can charge from 10% to 80% in 15 minutes, with peak discharge power ranging from 1800kW to 2500kW and a recuperative rated power of 700kW. In commercial vehicle operational scenarios, it can achieve a 15-minute charge and 4 hours of operation, increasing the fleet size by 30% with the same investment, improving vehicle operation efficiency by 15%, and boosting overall operational efficiency by over 35%. Simultaneously, the XFC station energy replenishment system has the advantages of lower investment costs, less resource occupancy, and high versatility, providing standardized energy replenishment services for various types of electric engineering vehicles such as heavy trucks, light trucks, and loaders. This empowers commercial vehicle operations to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Wang Zhao, Executive Director and General Manager of Decreation Future Auto Technology Co., Ltd., stated that Western Intelligent Connected, as an innovative new energy enterprise in the western region, has partnered with Greater Bay Technology Technology Research to create an industry panorama of "green products + super-fast charging + intelligent networking + segmented scenarios." They lead the industry in high-quality development with technological achievements and industrialization outcomes, realizing a breakthrough in XFC of new energy commercial vehicles. Wang Zhao proposed that new energy commercial vehicles, exemplified by the new product, are not only environmentally friendly and efficient means of transportation but also intelligent mobile power terminals. They are a specific embodiment of the comprehensive scenario-based approach of new energy commercial vehicles, further perfecting China's new energy commercial vehicle product matrix and driving the industry towards a green, intelligent future at an accelerated pace. Western Intelligent Connected continues to advance in the new energy track, enhancing the wealth-generating capacity of its products, and now has a complete series of super-fast charging commercial vehicle products, embarking on a new journey to elevate its brand through a leap in value.
Huang Xiangdong, chairman of Juwan Technology Research, stated that under the national "dual carbon" strategic goals and the wave of "new four modernizations" in the automotive industry, new energy vehicles have gradually become the backbone of industrial development. As Guangzhou Automobile Group's first internally incubated mixed-ownership high-tech enterprise, Juwan Technology Research has developed its own XFC (eXtreme Fast Charge) batteries, which can charge from 0 to 80% in just 7.5 minutes. These batteries have been equipped in electric vehicles, creating a world record certified by the World Record Certification Agency (WRCA) for the "fastest electric vehicle charging technology." This achievement truly realizes the concept of "charging as fast as fueling." Juwan has now achieved the deployment and mass production sales of XFC batteries across various vehicle models, becoming a leader in the field of XFC batteries.
On October 30th of this year, the world's first XFC battery specialty factory was officially put into production at the headquarters base of Greater Bay Technology Technology Research, marking the entry of Greater Bay Technology's XFC batteries into the phase of scaled delivery. Greater Bay Technology is currently focusing its resources to accelerate the development and mass-production of the commercial vehicle sector's heavy-duty extreme-fast charging battery projects, cooperating with industry partners to create a complete ecological industrial layout for XFC commercial vehicles. They aim to integrate the chain of commercial vehicles, batteries, and charging facilities, providing systematic solutions for the implementation of XFC commercial vehicles.
During the event, Xibu Zhilian and Greater Bay Technology Technology Research officially announced the signing of multiple strategic cooperation agreements. Adhering to the principles of "integrity, mutual benefit, complementary advantages, and joint development," they aim to fully leverage each party's strengths and establish comprehensive cooperation relationships across multiple channels, sectors, and levels. The scope of the cooperation includes technical exchanges on supercharging, joint R&D, the application of supercharging products in commercial vehicles, technology promotion, brand communication activities, and the establishment of a battery bank, among other aspects. This partnership is not only a vivid practice in implementing the national "dual carbon" strategic goals but also an important measure in fulfilling Shaanxi province's "three-year plan" and a significant accomplishment in promoting the electrification and intelligent development of the commercial vehicle industry. The strategic cooperation includes an expectation to promote 10,000 supercharged commercial vehicles in the next five years, along with the construction of 200 supercharging stations. This effort is aimed at vigorously enhancing extreme-speed charging technology in the promotion of XFC commercial vehicle products and ecosystems, further expanding China's international competitive advantage in the XFC commercial vehicle industry.
At the end of the press conference, Xibu Zhilian, Greater Bay Technology Technology Research, together with the Electric Vehicle Industry Extreme Fast Charge Ecological Alliance, Huawei, Teld, PetroChina, Sinopec, Nenglian, G7 Lvport, and the attending representatives, jointly issued the "Action Initiative for the Accelerated Promotion of XFC Extreme Fast Charging in XFC Commercial Vehicle Applications" (referred to as the "XFC Xi'an Initiative"). The initiative aims to have built 5,000 XFC commercial vehicle stations nationwide by 2026, with ultra-fast charging commercial vehicle models accounting for no less than 20% of new vehicle sales.
